More Than Awareness
SoulFest exists to encourage all who attend to surrender to God's love, allowing TRUE LOVE to lead us into a deeper awareness of God's call on our lives to live relationally with God, each other, and our neighbors in our communities and throughout the world, and to take action against any inputs that crosses our path. While raising awareness is important, SoulFest hopes to empower attendees with tools and resources to fight injustice in small ways daily. Here a few of the ways SoulFest will be taking up social justice issues on site:
Not For Sale Campaign
|
The NFS national staff will join us to lead in a variety of ways by providing a precise understanding of how human trafficking is more prevalent now than any other time in history while also give attendees innovative solutions to re-abolish slavery in our own backyards and across the globe. Here are a few examples:
|
• Supply Chain Academy:
Not For Sale is hosting a three-day Abolitionist Academy on the topic of forced labor and slavery in the supply chain at SoulFest 2010. Learn more about the academy and how to register! Read more
• Chocolate Campaign:
Did you know 70% of the world’s supply of cocoa beans come from West Africa where there is an estimated 15,000 child slaves who harvest them?
At SoulFest 2010, the Not For Sale Campaign will be selling 100% organic Fair Trade chocolate from Sweet Earth Chocolates to incorporate social justice in all parts of the SoulFest experience! This chocolate comes from grower co-operatives that monitor their operations to ensure that forced labor was not used in the production of their chocolate.
Chocolate never tasted so sweet! Read more
• Freedom store:
The Not For Sale Freedom Store sells beautifully crafted products made by vulnerable and marginalized populations, including victims of human trafficking. With each purchase you make, you help spread awareness of injustice and support sustainable jobs for impoverished people. The Freedom Store allows Christian consumers to live out our faith and mission for social justice in all aspects of life, including our purchases.

Save Giovanni's Friends/DKMS Bone Marrow Donor Center
|
With a simple swipe of a cotton swap to the inside of your mouth, this organization is able to register your bone marrow type within their national database. As the need for bone marrow arises, hospitals can pull from this data base and identify potential donors. Last year at SoulFest 10 potential donors were identified throughout the course of the year!
